HOW TO WRITE AN AD

The Story: Jim Riswold lectured us on "How Hilter’s Car Led to the Greatest Advertising in Advertising History." Then we were assigned a copywriting project.

Problem: How do you write a successful Volkswagen ad without breaking from their traditional voice of the 1970s?

Solution:  Focus on a feature of the product and a benefit of that feature. For example: The engine being in the back instead of front (feature) and having more legroom (benefit).
